Paul Oakenfold Presents

In 1987, Paul Oakenfold brought acid house to the UK after hearing it on a trip to Ibiza, and two years later, when house music, rave culture and the Balearic scene were in full bloom, he launched Perfecto. And when you see the tracklist of his retrospective compilation you realise just how much his label contributed to not only trance, but house, breaks and now even EDM.

You'd be forgiven for thinking this mix would be made up entirely of psy-trance tracks. But while the Goa sounds of Man With No Name are scattered through the whole album, it's soulful, funky, piano house that dominates CD1. From start to finish, it's fun and bouncy with lots of pace without being too hectic. And classics like 'Cafe Del Mar', 'Not Over Yet' and 'Barber's Adagio For Strings' will no doubt trigger memories.
