Paul Oakenfold has announced a residency at Pikes Ibiza
Celebrating 30 years since the second summer of love
Paul Oakenfold will be celebrating where it all began with a residency at Pikes Ibiza this summer.
The DJ will mark 30 years since his infamous trip to the White Isle, from which he and others took the sounds of Ibiza back to the UK, helping fuel a dance music revolution.
Every Wednesday in August, Oakenfold will throw down extended sets with some special guests dropping by at one of Ibiza’s most storied clubs.
Oakenfold said: “It's a celebration of 30 years, with different DJs playing different things, passing by, jumping on, doing back-to-back - it's about sharing a mutual love of music and that's what’s important. We’ve come of age as a dance music community and this is about celebrating all that we’ve achieved and having a great time.
“It's amazing because I'm usually playing massive shows so to go back and play a small room for 200 people and to play three-hour sets is really special and going to be a lot of fun.”
Oakenfold also announced his plans to release a compilation of 30 years of electronic music that will feature “tracks from artists whose music has defined each era”.
