Pasty-loving students managed to throw a rave in their local Greggs

Picture the scene. You’re at university in Birmingham and you fucking love Greggs. What else is there to do than hit up your local and ask to have a back-to-school rave?

That’s what one student did at the end of last month, and in a fairly transparent clutch at social media relevancy, Greggs agreed, turning their pasties into party poppers for one night only.

Student Nikki Gardner and a select VIP guestlist of friends had the velvet rope put up for them before they were treated to free food and booze inside the Birmingham city centre establishment.

Local DJ Dan Kelly helmed the decks to the 50 ravers, but reports of his selections including A Guy Called Gerald’s ‘Voodoo Roll’, ‘Pastylator’ by Cajmere and ‘The Bakes’ by Jeff Mills are greatly exaggerated.

Just imagine if big companies used their money to support the actual club scene, that’s a pretty neat idea…

There's been some other unexpected party locations this year, including the grim sewer rave in Newcastle, a primary school and a disused Morrisons supermarket.
