Look, we don’t normally pay much attention to the ins and outs of the trademark world, but when the words ‘game’, ‘boy’ and ‘Nintendo’ are used in the same sentence, we take notice. As one of the key systems used in the Chiptune scene, we're sure others will as well.

It would appear that the legendary gaming company filed a trademark for the “first Game Boy” last month, and if this is true then could we see a Game Boy Classic Mini in the works?

It would be a natural progression following Nintendo’s reproduction of the NES Classic Mini and SNES Classic Mini. Boutique versions of old machines just seem to be in right now.

At the same time, the trademark also covers a whole load of style cases to be used on consoles, smartphones, watches, keyholders and necklaces, so who knows.

Others are suggesting it could imply the release of another home console being re-released, namely the Nintendo 64. Whatever it is, sign us up. We want to hear the Zelda soundtrack again.
