Throw Your Hands Up

South-West German pair Mirko Koenig and Patrick Lesser, aka Liquid Phonk, make sophisticated, grooving house and disco that fits perfectly with Compost Black’s ethos of releasing quality dancefloor cuts with soul.

“C’mon and throw your hands up,” orders the duo’s latest track, as a lazy clap and loose groove give it a real NYC speakeasy feel. The best part, though, comes after the breakdown, when a voice announces “it’s time for a revival” before an anthemic horn collaborates with the soft rhodes to deliver a pure, peak-time moment.

If you heard the likes of Andrés or Session Victim dropping this one in a set, you’d be reaching to Shazam it like John Wayne in a shootout. Now, though, you don’t have to.
