As if we weren’t hyped enough for the Blade Runner sequel’s release in October next year, it has now been revealed that Jóhann Jóhannsson wil be scoring the film.

The combination of the Icelandic composer’s music and Blade Runner 2 director Denis Villeneuve’s films has proven a winning partnership in the past. Jóhannsson previously scored Prisoners and Sicario, the latter of which earned him an Academy Award nomination.

Vangelis’ score for Blade Runner is one of our all time favourites, appearing in our 12 killer film soundtracks feature, and we’re fully backing Jóhannsson to deliver another quality musical accompaniment for its follow-up, which is set "a few decades later".

Jóhann Jóhannsson has also revealed he has a new album titled ‘Orphée’ coming out on September 16, you can check out the opening track’s video now, and head here for the pre-order.
