Is Hotflush the Label Of The Decade? Vote now

The evolution of Hotflush mirrors that of the artist who founded it, Scuba. Minted in 2003, it began as a dubstep label, pushing the likes of Toasty and Distance until 2009, when attention turned to the burgeoning post-dubstep movement and acts like Mount Kimbie, Sepalcure and Joy Orbison. After that, Hotflush became dedicated to house and techno, aligning itself with George FitzGerald, Paul Woolford and Locked Groove, among others. An extension of Scuba’s taste in club music, the imprint has a more storied discography than most.

Hotflush and Scuba famously enjoyed four years at Berghain with the club’s only bass focused night, Sub:Stance which launched in 2008. Taking a clear step away from dubstep and bass, the label’s event moved upstairs to Panorama Bar in 2013 and remains one of the biggest selling techno labels in Europe today.
