One word to describe Andrés' music? Jams. Give 2012 release 'New For U' a listen and you'll be fully aware of why we use that word as a summation of the Detroit artist's music. Gliding strings, subtle scratches and the most delicate of percussion are all thrown into the mix, resulting in a true house gem.

The rest of that 12" - 'Drama Around The Corner' and 'Jazz Dance' - on his label La Vida is further evidence of his swinging production swagger, without doubt placing him as one of Motor City's finest producers.

Once the resident DJ of hip hop group Slum Village, his first release, 'Trues', came via Moodymann's KDJ imprint in 1997, the title track of that 12" being a wonderfully deep cut, brimming with happiness thanks to its samples of laughter and chitter-chatter in the background. The fact the only other artists who've released on that label are the label boss, Theo Parrish, Rick Wilhite and Chicago veteran Alton Miller really speaks volumes of how highly regarded he is.

Swooning tunes have continued to come, with records on Mahogani Music, Sounds of the Universe and, most recently, his own La Vida with 'Believin''. He doesn't shy away from remixes, either. Paul White's 'Where You Gonna Go?' got a slick and silky makeover in 2014, with Doc Daneeka's 'What's It Gonna Be' being turned into a beautiful stomper at the end of last year.

Brazil's Far Out Monster Disco Orchestra are up next for DJ Dez's nifty reworking and the goods arrive in such pristine condition that they'd be worthy of a 100 per cent delivery rating on eBay. A sensual vocal loops repeatedly, with the chorus floating in and out atop of softly-flicked piano chords. Do you still wanna know why we used the word 'jams' to describe his tunes? This will tell you.
