Dublin nightclub District 8 to be moved as part of a redevelopment project
The Tivoli Theatre will undergo a €25 million transformation
A redevelopment of the Tivoli Theatre in Dublin means District 8 nightclub will have to vacate its current premises.
The Tivoli will be turned into a "modern performance and arts facility", according to the Irish Times, with a 260-room aparthotel, a gym, restaurants and shops set to be built as part of the €25 million project.
District 8, which has welcomed the likes of Ben Klock, Nicole Moudaber and Maceo Plex in the last year, will stay open until next year, as suggested in a Facebook post by the club.
"The latest developments on the Tivoli site will not affect District 8 in the near future. We have lots of huge shows booked for this year and have already started booking 2019. We will keep you updated when we receive any further news."
Anthony Byrne, founder of the Tivoli Theatre, is spearheading the project which has been given the green light by An Bord Pleanála.
