Danny Rampling will celebrate Shoom's 30th anniversary in London
A room full of acid house pioneers
Acid house pioneer Danny Rampling has announced a special event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the opening of his seminal clubnight Shoom.
The event will take place on December 8 at London’s Pulse club, also known as Bankside Vaults, in SE1 - close to the Southwark space where the night was born in 1988.
Rampling will be joined by Terry Farley, Pete Heller and Bushwacka! as well as drag legend Jonny Woo who will be the compère for the evening.
Inspired by a trip to Ibiza in the Summer of ‘87, Rampling founded Shoom in a bid to recreate the hedonistic experience found on the White Isle back in the UK. The first Shoom was thrown in a 300 capacity basement fitness centre. The night was marketed with a simple smiley face logo - which became ubiquitous to the acid house explosion.
Shoom will celebrate its 30th anniversary on December 8. Tickets will be available from October 14 here.
