Opening of Croatian party island Obonjan delayed due to power and water failure

It was meant to kick off today but won't start until "at least" August 3

A six-week festival on the island of Obonjan, off the coast of Croatia, has been postponed.

It was due to open today (July 28), but the organisers emailed ticket holders early this morning saying the island is currently "without running water or electricity".

A Facebook post by Obonjan also reads: "Urgent message about customers heading to Obonjan in the next couple of days - the island is currently without running water and electricity, if you have not yet travelled we advise that you don't. Please check your email for further details of next steps and how we can help you with your flights, accommodation and refunds if required."

Guests who have not yet travelled to the previously uninhabited island are being asked not to until "at least" August 3, with organisers providing email and telephone contacts in order to reschedule trips. Those already there are being told there is a "Croatian team who are working to secure alternative accommodation locally and can assist with rearranging any travel plans."

Obonjan was acquired by the team behind Unknown Festival last year and Four Tet, Floating Points, Taloboman, Matthew Herbert and Jessy Lanza are all scheduled to play at the festival throughout the summer.

The website states "Obonjan is an eclectic hotbed of sounds and spinners", with film, art, talks and workshops also scheduled to take place.
