Concerts may soon be using facial recognition technology for tickets

Ticketmaster is developing a program with the biometric identification company Blink Identity to phase out paper tickets entirely. The implementation of Blink Identity’s technology at concert venues and festivals will use “cutting-edge facial recognition technology” that will “associate your digital ticket with your image” - allowing ticket holders to simply walk into the show without scanning a ticket.

No concrete plans to introduce this technology have been announced yet, but a recent note to investors from Live Nation Entertainment - Ticketmaster’s parent company - made note of this brand new partnership. Concerns are being raised regarding the customer database that would be needed in order to implement this mechanized ticketing system.

The company Blink Identity has worked closely with The US Department of Defense and have implemented their breakthrough sensory technology at various military bases around the world.
