Already known for its money-no-object portable player, Astell & Kern has unveiled a new, equally dedicated music system.

This time designed for home use, the AK500N is an all luxury desktop solution that promises to sound as good as it looks. Available in black or silver aluminium, the AK500N looks every inch its £8999 price tag, and is designed to invoke the peak of Switzerland's Matterhorn mountain.

As you'd expect from Astell & Kern, the AK500N crams in a range of audiophile friendly features. Complete with one-click CD ripping, PCM to DSD conversion as well as easy DLNA support, the AK500N can also store your music in its high performance SSD. Despite being a stationary, desktop product, the AK500N runs on a built in battery - just to avoid the electronic sound interference of a mains transformer.
