Who? The M Machine, fast-rising trio from San Francisco.
Why? Their ascent to the top tier of EDM has been lightning quick, having formed in 2011 they went on to release an EP on Skrillex's OWSLA imprint in the spring of 2012. 'Metropolis Pt. I' was a blast of pyrotechnic electronic music and the first of the band's records based around Fritz Lang's 1927 film of the same name. Bounce forward a year and as the spring of 2013 approaches, The M Machine have just released 'Metropolis Pt. II', which is further evidence of their explosive, maximalist approach to making tunes.
As well as catching Skrillex's ear, they've toured extensively across the US and Europe, hitting all the major dance festivals in the process. They also count the royalty of EDM and big-room dance as fans, meaning The M Machine has made a storming entrance onto the scene over the past 24 months. Not bad, if you think about it. Mixmag wanted to see what all the fuss was about, so we called them up for an exclusive mix that's bursting with their own productions and remixes. Check it out below.
