Steve Rachmad vs Sterac

The Dutch veteran delivers an hour of chaotic techno

Steve Rachmad has been sculpting high-end electronic music for over 25 years and he's not showing any sign of letting up.

His early techno records from the mid 90s sound as good now as they did back when they challenged listeners' perceptions of the genre. The album that changed it all was of course his seminal ' Secret Life Of Machines' under his Sterac alias. Once people had gotten a taste for his cosmic, melancholic and pulsating productions, that was it.

In terms of what he's done since, it would be easier to list what he hasn't achieved as there's very little to sort through. Although a native Dutchman, Rachmad is widely considered as someone who's pushed Detroit techno. Under aliases like Parallel 9, Ignacio and Sterac, he's created a warm, soulful and melodic style.

He's played everywhere around the world you could possibly want to as a DJ. From Berghain to Fabric, Trouw to Womb, his DJ sets are always super energetic. After members of the Mixmag team came back from Time Warp this year, the topic of conversation was centred around one man. Funny enough it wasn't Sven Väth, it was Rachmad.

More recently, his debut release on Luke Slater's Mote-Evolver label has just dropped and has been doing the rounds. The 'Different Strokes' EP is fizzier than your average Rachmad; less melodic, more grainy and nostalgic.

Now the Dutch veteran has delivered us a stellar In Session that covers the wide spectrum he operates on. Steve Rachmad vs Sterac is the order of the day and now you can tuck into an hour of intergalatic, side-winding techno that features cuts by Planetary Assault Systems, Floating Points, Deetron and of course plenty of chunk from the man himself. Recorded at his kis. night at Studio 80, buckle up and get ready for the pace.
