July: 10 big tunes you need to hear this month
Nina Kraviz, Marquis Hawkes, Mr G and more
8 Mr G
'Soba Shioyaki' (Holic)
More of a 4am techno throbber than a 6am sunrise anthem, there’s no denying that Mr G’s purple patch continues apace in 2017. A nicely grooving Detroit-ish instrumental with a diva vocal intoning ‘You never wanna love a man’, this couldn’t be any more Fabric-friendly if it tried. Turn it up!
9 Leftwing & Cody
'Sound Boy' (Solid Grooves)
Another track that will have premiered on Mixmag.net by the time you read this, this Skream-approved vocal smash (“I am feeling hot tonight”) has been kept under wraps identity-wise since it first aired last December – but is now seeing the light of day on Solid Grooves.
10 Sentre
'Make Me' (Bird Up!)
When they’re not in the studio making music with Sasha, Dave Gardner and Dennis White also make sublime synth-fuelled soundscapes like ‘Make Me’ under the moniker Sentre. There’s an album full of jams incoming, but we’re opting for the anthemic opening track.
