DJ Haus

No bad vibes

"Just havin' a laugh," says DJ Haus in an old video interview that's stashed away in a corner of YouTube. He's talking about his approach to making music but he might as well be talking about his approach to life. Because Haus exudes good times.

His tracks – pelters like 'Addicted 2 Houz', 'Comin' On' and 'Wurk It Girl' – throw cheekily back to 90s house and all invoke the spirit of innocent, communal hedonism and arouse feelings of warm, rushing euphoria. No bad vibes.

His sets come fully loaded with jackin' stompers from the vaults as well as rough, tough 'n' vibrant new productions from the artists that release on one of his three (!!!) labels: Unknown To The Unknown, Hot Haus Recs and Hot Shit Reks In Effekt. With a penchant for playing music that makes you feel hyper, Haus brings the party every damn time.

As hinted at above, Haus is one of the hardest working people in dance music. The release rate of his labels will make your head spin and have you digging through the racks of your local record store like a muso Ash Ketchum. Unknown To The Unknown has been pumping out the jams since 2011 and is a vehicle for Haus' rowdy taste, covering everything from the analogue explorations of Legowelt to the bangin' bassline of DJ Q via cuts from Detroit's legendary DJ Stingray.

Then there's Hot Haus Recs, which excels in serving 12"s designed for DJ use. Palace, DJ Octopus, Rushmore, Max D and Willie Burns have all tapped in to the series, delivering serious dancefloor fodder. Lastly, Hot Shit Recs is used for, well, more of the same hella bangin' house music.

Having held down a Rinse show for a hot minute, Haus is on the verge of releasing his debut album for the station's in-house label. Titled 'Burnin' Up', its tracklist includes the brilliantly named 'EEEz Werkin', 'Hypnotizin'' and 'Acid Strings', so you know it's going to be full of standard Haus goodness.

The full length comes off the back of a well-received EP for Rinse and marks the best part of a decade in the game for Haus, who's been frothing dancefloors solo and sometimes as part of Trumpet & Badman (alongside DJ Q) since 2008. To celebrate his best and biggest work to date, he's gone into the mix for us and selected a range of bangers from his labels as well as some stone-cold party starters from his impeccable collection. Recognise!

'Burnin' Up' is out on November 13 via Rinse
