new lad to the forum, about me and my music
Hi people,
read mixmag for yonks but have never got on this forum, thought it was about time i did...so I'll tell you a bit about myself...
My name is Chris, I am from Manchester and i'm 19.
Ive loved electronic music all my life, anything from deep techy stuff to bangin psy trance, new, old, whatever it is, as long as its good. Im also a DJ and will post my August mix up as soon as ive done this...
To be honest though, music has really messed my life up, it has become my life..i was at uni last year but I never did any work outside of seminars, being in a pretty remote area i had a lot of free time to spare, which went on the decks and learning about music, its history, production, new stuff, artists, tracks etc etc... anything but german/business studies. Surely enough I failed two exams in the summer [which Im actually proud of because I didn't revise at all] so I won't be going back in october either.
So its nice to be back in the rainy city, enjoy the nightlife here more aswell, love my clubbing, pubbing and just having a laugh...as most of my mates listen to music which doesnt extend to anything past the top 40, it would be nice to discuss the good music...and meet people with the same tastes as me...
looking forward to being part of the forum!
Cheers for reading...
C

Hi Chris,
good to hear from you. This is definitely the right place to be then.
dont worry too much about the exams - are you really going to be going into a career revolving around german and business studies anyway?! doesnt sound like it!
So who are you loving at the moment? what is your favourite tune of the past few months? have you managed to get along to any of the great festivals that have been going on this summer?
cheers for replying,
at the moment, i'm quite liking Gold Ryan/Tapesh, mainly because of their Open/Closed/Dual System tracks, but to be honest i don't have favourite artists, i'm more label inclined...so Toolroom, Cocoon, Rising, and CLR are doing it for me...track wise, i can't decide which track I like best out of Sebastien Leger - Talisman, or Kevin Saunderson - Rock To The Beat [Smith & Selway remix], and (I know its pretty old but...) recently i've been playing Chris Liebing - Puckelbop alot! I haven't seen any festivals this summer as the wallet was tight, managed to get a cheap hol to Malia in July (which was awful), think its Ibiza time in 2009, but all my mates are winging 'cos its 'too expensive', know any ways to persuade them?!
if you book Ibiza really really early you can probably get a decent deal..or go for closing parties - flights are going to be cheaper towards the end of September. Get a villa and fill it with lots of you.Could take the accommodation prices down. Drink before you go out? But its going to be expensive even if you do all these things. Once your mates are out there they will thank you!
so you are quite into your big techy, trancey electro stuff at the moment? that Sebastian Leger track is great. I really really love his track with Chris Lake - Word (original mix.) his sound is quite similar to Deadmau5 isnt it? Loving his stuff at the moment. 'I remember' is wicked.
next time dont bother with sh*tty holidays in sh*tty places - go to Global Gathering - you will have an incredible weekend. and they are now putting more commercial acts on to attract more people who are fans of other genres. So thats your mates sorted!
