gutted im not going this year
yoooo
hey everyone im missing global this year how gutted im i lol
So here we are...
Yes fellow Mixmagers. Do not fear, as we are hear, bringing you all the action as it happens. Well at least having just solved the riddle of this darn tenternet!
And where better to start than at our very own Mixmag Terrace. Comp winners Zeigfried Android have just ripped open our soundsystem on the mash-up tip. Ladies and Gents… The rave is on. Born Slippy vs Justice Vs Simian – it’s full on tune warfare, hands in the air, and t-shirts it seems are a distant memory.
Across the field that dude with the horse face is here (looking a bit unstable…), I can see a cow, and there are two Buzz Lightyears sweating their bollocks off. Magic.
Back at the Terrace, calmly awaiting his turn to flex the decks, German tech-houser Âme is also soaking up the rays. “I’ve played at Glasto, I’ve done T in the Park and lots of others. But this is the first time the sun has come out at an English festival!”
Indeed. It’s warming up nicely. Time to make like Moby and ‘Go’!
Blog Correction and Thanks
Alright,
As one of "the 'droids", just wanted to say a BIG thank you to mixmag and EVERYONE who showed there support during and after our set - it was seriously amazing! For our first festival appearance I don't think we did a bad job...
Just would like to point out that we are actually SIEGFRIED ANDROID (not the easiest name to remember i know)
For those of you who like our stuff check out www.myspace.com/siegfriedandroid - we're currently uploading the video and recording of the mix
Thanks again,
JJ
PS - Shout out to the guy in the black t-shirt and sunglasses in the front row, sorry i didn't give you a CD!
...
Sorry chaps, but yes, a big shout out for Siegfried Android. What a storming start to the festival. Did i hear some Ipunx in there somewhere too???
pd
And I quote...
“Mixmag, fuck yeah!” - shouts the MC for Caspa & Rusko whilst dubstep descends and Mixmag letter hero and RAF legend Dave Hayden joins us back stage for his own special words…
“It’s my first wet dream.”
Indeed. Fuck Norwich Union. This is where we quote you happy.
Meanwhile the Scratch Perverts just rocked the main stage and Kanye’s one hundred thousand million pound stage set up is getting erected as we speak.
Er…
I’ll catch him in a wee while, but first it’s off to meet Moby for a super special DJ set on the Myspace Bus and to talk Twin Peaks.
Tuborgculosis is setting in…
Pman.
I piss on your tent.
So I was at the myspace bus waiting for Moby, and there he was. He turned, took a piss against the welfare tent then fled. It wasn’t fear. Probably common sense.
By the by, he’s on in a minute but I’m in charge of the group now. So here we are, sitting by the main stage, listening to Waterfalls by Atlantic Ocean. Class.
Furthermore, and it must be said, Owen’s pretty cool. But he’s a bitch to find, especially near a Tuborg outlet.
Save and post.
I’ve got the giggles.
Pd.

Jeebers...
Moby was awesome. Not just for pissing on that tent earlier, but for talking to some eagle eyed fans first, having his picture taken and then realising that he was in the big tent in half an hour... Later we had a brief chat about Radiohead and an awsome DJ called Panzah Zandahz as Moby he lived up to everyone's assurance that he was a top bloke.
Still, mid-gig, whilst I sought my own relief, a guy was puking his guts out so I gave him my water and descended back into one of the best – 'first time is always the brilliant' gigs I’ve been to in time. Raving.
Just afterwards and me and Owen are talking about how crAP THIS BLOG IS. IN FACT IT SEEMS I‘VE GOT CRAPS LOCK ON.
“Send! Send!”
The Music
For those of you who want to know what's been going on music-wise I can vouch that Seidfried Android on the Mixmag tent started the festival off the way it should have been. The Raveology tent was heaving early on too, and Cocoon was pulling the crowds. Later on, Eric Prydz rocked the Global tent, while, as much as I want a cross-over between hip-hop and electro, Kanye West was one dimensional and dull.
Moby's even smaller than you imagine.
On reflection...
Sorry, a bit drunk. defintitly been a good night though...
The Fonze...
Eeeey, ey, ey, eeeeeeeeey.
11.10 and it sounds like the Fonze is doing a mic check.
Oh, the things you learn. In fact I must remember not to post the same entry more than once and perhaps learn to spell.
I shall, however, sweep it all under this wild and friendly Global Gathering carpet. On Rugga tip.
Yesterday was quality. The vibe was perfect, happy and hedonistic all at once. This morning the showers work, the sun is still shining and with the Fonze in full flow, it’s definitely thumbs up so far!
16 official hours of good times to go...
CRAPS LOCK off.
Back in the game.
Beat heat
Welcome back to Bikinifest 2008. It’s flipping scorching and the crowd get sexier by the hour.
Must give a little shout out for Clarky Cat and Arne Blackman who tested the suspension on the Myspace bus last night, and a well done to all the VIP campers who are still managing to make it out of that labyrinth of guy ropes and beer cans.
Props too to the MOW – ministry of welfare for looking after everyone who’s a little worse for wear, or in their own words: “helping those suffering some temporary mental displacement…” They’ll be busy tonight I expect.
Meanwhile, Micky Slim is at work as we speak, necking vodka and kicking inflatable footballs into the crowd, whilst outside, the whole festival is on heat and things are about to get a little frisky.
Time to knot my handkerchief and pull on my Kanye vest. Summer’s back. And man it’s loud!
Red 5 standing by..
Whoooooooooooosh.
Red Arrows in the house! Spectacular stuff it is too and it's not often anyone can out-bass a whole festival!
Beneath, there’s bare-foot drum ‘n’ bass dancing on the Terrace de Mixmag, Norman Jay’s Good Times Soundsystem in the blissed out and sun drenched VIP area and Ali B Air-ing his breaks.
The field’s deceptively large, but well thought out and easy to navigate, with two well-placed mud holes just to remind us what an English festival is normally like!
I’ve seen bumblebee beauties, smiling smurfs and a man in a bra, with the rest of the crowd building towards a last glorious sunset and the joys of the night.
Roisin Murphy will surely be a popular draw on the mainstage in 15 minutes, and later Mark Ronseal will be doing exactly what it says on the programme.
But first thing’s first. Time for a spot of tea.
Roger and out.
GUEST BLOG!!!
good evening. This is a comunication from the front lines of the war on sleep. I have somehow shouldered young Dudman off the blog 'ting, and I now present an exclusive guest blog from deep inside Global Gathering. My name is Duncan. I am Mixmag's features editor. It's dark, and I'm wearing sunglasses. All spelling errors are Phil's fault.
First of all, Mark Ronson just annihilated the main stage. Guest artists coming out his ears, a brilliant light show, 50,00 peaople singing along to 'Valerie', absolutely awesome. best performance of the festival without a doubt and a privilege to watch. The Mixmag terrace has been cooking nicely, Commix' drum 'n' bass was awesome. Yuksek's electro packed them in and Jesse Rose was fantastic. The mixture of music seemed to work very well, I think because all the DJs maintained a really high energy level and also because the location, just between the VIP and the mainstage was perfect.
also, beacuse it was Mixmag's stage, obviously it was goig off in the badeest possible way.
I see that Phil is eager to get back on and update 'tings (that or he wants a beer) but I can say quite honestly that I wish you were here. It's bloody brilliant. And to the scumbag who stole our banner last night. I will find you, and you should fear my wrath!
I'm de'creasing...
So time to see Etienne de Crecy.
Let's Roll...
jealous
you lucky lucky boys!
Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air…
..and taking your kind offer of a ‘special portion’ of festival curry.
And Lord I just don’t care.
Because it’s tasty curry. The kind of curry that satisfies after a feel good Mark Ronson gig (as in ‘feels good to plug my guitar in finally’), and David Guetta. Indeed the kind that brings one back to life at the end of a quality festival, where – and let’s rhyme with this – the sun has was in heat, the Red Arrows where sweet and, well fuck it – you’re starving.
PS. Blogging's pretty weird...
But it's quality to know you can make a tit out of yourself absolutely anywhere.
Long live the tenternet!
Things I saw
A 45+ year old woman with no bra on and a t-shirt that read: Stop looking at my tits. With pleasure love!
Roisin Murphy in a weird red outfit doing some creepy dance on stage, looking like "Little Red Riding hood on her period", according to my friend.
Will Bailey was very very good as was Micky Slim and Eric Prydz and Seigfried Android rocked it too. Hadouken were the best band on Saturday by far.
Tiesto: Distinctly average.
Moby: pretty boring.
I also saw a bloke in the Global arena wearing a t-shirt which said 'Ket, sex... and more ket'. Which was nice.
And three used condoms in the VIP portaloos - classy!
