Dusk & Blackdown present Margins Music: Dubstep - The Movie?

Dusk & Blackdown's 'Margins Music' album (out next week) has some of the highest production values around, and the DVD they've created with director Jonathan Howells takes dubstep into altogether new territories.

Check out the footage of rapper Durrty Goodz in this clip: we can't think of any time a UK grime MC has been made to look so good - or so alarming - in a video.

Switch and Hot Chip remix Skream's dubstep

Skream's 2005 'Midnight Request Line' - dubstep's breakthrough anthem and still its biggest track bar Benga & Coki's 'Night' - has been remixed by Hot Chip and Switch for release on Tempa.

We've just heard the remixes. They're mental.

Garage pioneer Zed Bias resurrects his Sidestepper label

zed bias Zed Bias - a legendary figure in the darker side of UK Garage, and massive influence on the birth of dubstep along with producers like El-B, Noodles, Wookie, Oris Jay and Horsepower Productions - has more recently concentrated on deep house / funk / rap hybrids.

Now, though, there's a massive buzz in the dubstep community and beyond at the news that he's brought back the Sidestepper label on which his most influential stripped-down and bass-heavy productions were released, and is promising releases this and every month.

Bass Weight - dubstep documentary forthcoming

Studio Rarekwai have made a documentary about the dubstep scene.

It's due for release this autumn.

If this clip is anything to go by, it's going to be the best depiction of the sound and culture yet.

Dubstep takes over Berghain

Substance If there was any doubt that Dubstep has taken root outside of the UK, this night in Berlin on 11th July sets that well and truly to rest.

Opening the main room of techno's current spiritual home for the first time on a Friday night (the attached Panorama Bar will play techno as normal), this brings together some of the deepest talents in dubstep.

Paul "Scuba" Rose and Sam Shackleton - both of whom are now Berlin residents - as well as scene stalwarts Mala (DMZ), Distance and Shackleton's Skull Disco partner Appleblim, will all play.
